Safety & Health Program

Safety & Health Philosophy

The Department of County Facilities is committed to protecting and promoting the health, safety, and well being of our employees by providing a safe and healthful workplace. We consider health and safety to be of primary importance in all aspects of employment.

In support of the Safety Policy of the Board of County Commissioners, the Department of County Facilities will provide the necessary resources to help prevent occupational injuries and illnesses and work toward accomplishing our collective goal of an accident and injury-free workplace.

A written Safety & Health Program has been established by the Department of County Facilities to serve as the foundation for this effort by providing safety procedures and work practice guidelines that are unique to the safe operation of our department. This Safety & Health Program also serves as a general tool for complying with health and safety regulations, and for protecting equipment, materials, and property.

Safety is a team effort. All Department of County Facilities employees are expected to work safely within our work environment and comply with the requirements of the Safety & Health Program. Employees must take responsibility for safety and must also advise management of hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices so that preventive and corrective actions may be taken.

The Department of County Facilities relies on the personal commitment of our employees to our Safety & Health Program.  If we all work together, we can achieve our collective goal of an accident and injury-free workplace.
