At the Office of the County Engineer, we are passionate about fostering the next generation of civil engineering, construction management, and surveying professionals through our comprehensive and hands-on co-op programs. With a mission rooted in providing safe and efficient transportation services to our community, we offer co-op students the opportunity to actively contribute to projects that impact real-world infrastructure. Our team oversees 414 bridges and over 500 miles of public right of way, tackling everything from stormwater management to traffic engineering. By joining our co-op program, students gain invaluable exposure to the inner workings of a government organization dedicated to excellence in transportation and community connectivity.

Our co-op program is designed to offer a balanced blend of office-based planning and on-site field experience. Participants will engage in diverse activities such as performing stormwater pipe inspections, aiding in the design and review of traffic and drainage plans, and estimating costs for county-wide projects. Students also gain hands-on experience in project site visits, inspection coordination, and traffic studies, as well as technical skills using tools like AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Beyond technical expertise, co-ops will develop a deeper understanding of contract documentation, the permitting process, and contractor payment workflows. From signal timing adjustments to collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, our program ensures a well-rounded introduction to civil engineering practices that align with state regulations and community needs.

We are looking for enthusiastic, detail-oriented individuals ready to jump into meaningful work and grow alongside a dedicated team of professionals. If you’re eager to gain practical skills, make valuable contributions, and explore the exciting challenges of civil engineering, we invite you to apply!
